This presentation will describe radiopharmaceuticals I-131, Lu-177, and Ra-223 used for the treatment of specific tumors. Physical properties, dosimetry, biodistribution, and radiation safety precautions will be outlined. Patient evaluation procedures, imaging requirements and patient instructions will also be discussed.

  2. Discuss physical properties, radiation dosimetry and biodistribution of pharmaceuticals
  3. Outline radiation safety precautions associated with handling of radiopharmaceuticals

Presenter:
Murali Nair PhD, DABR, Chief Medical Physicist/RSO, received a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Missouri, Columbia 1985. He is also certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic, Diagnostic Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine. Dr. Nair is licensed in all three branches by the Texas Medical Board. Dr. Nair has worked as a Medical Physicist and Radiation Safety Officer in Radiation Oncology for over 30 years. He has a specialty in Stereotactic Radiosurgery using Linac and Gamma Knife. Dr. Nair also does LDR, HDR, interstitial, intracavitary brachytherapy, and radiopharmaceutical therapy.
