This 30-minute session will provide an overview of gynecologic brachytherapy.  It will focus on cervical and endometrial cancers, going over the anatomy of the female gynecological reproductive pelvis and discussing the most common brachytherapy procedures delivered for these cancers along with their clinical presentation of them.

  1. Discuss the most common brachytherapy procedures for treating cervical and endometrial cancers
  2. Gain an overview of gynecologic brachytherapy

Presenter:
Carolina Fasola, MD, MPH, is board certified in radiation oncology. She specializes in breast and gynecologic cancers, brachytherapy procedures and sarcomas at Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute. Dr. Fasola has been recognized as a Charlotte Magazine Top Doctor for many years.  She is focusing her research efforts on breast cancer and hopes to find innovative treatments to eradicate cancer. Dr. Fasola earned her medical degree at Emory University and completed her residency at Stanford University.
