What is a GammaPod? This session will provide a summary of the history as well as the uses of the GammaPod in the treatment of breast cancer.

Learner Outcomes:

  1. List the types of treatments available to the GammaPod
  2. Discuss the workflow of the GammaPod
  3. Explain how APBI treatments with the GammaPod compare to APBI with VMAT

Presenter:
Stewart J. Becker, PhD, is a board-certified Medical Physicist. He received his PhD in Medical Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Becker joined the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2014, where he is a physicist and radiation safety officer. Prior to joining UM, Dr. Becker was at NYU Langone Medical Center, where he served as a physicist in the Department of Radiation Oncology and as a scholar at the NYU Institute for Innovations in Medical Education.

Dr. Becker is an internationally recognized expert in GammaPod (a stereotactic radiosurgery technique for the breast) and has traveled the world to assist new centers in the installation of their GammaPods.
